Most of our seasonal epidemics begin at school. There are three key practices that can help reduce your child's chances of bringing home a bug:
1 - A good night's rest - Children need at least nine hours of sleep a night for good health.
2 - Hand washing- People rub thier noses or eyes after having been contaminated with a cold virus. Teach your child to wash their hands after using the bathroom and before eating meals. Remind your child to use the hand sanitizer dispensers in the cafeteria on their way to pick up their breakfast or lunch tray.
3 - Eating a healthy breakfast each morning - Breakfast provides the nutrients necessary for learning and paying attention. Children who eat breakfast participate in class more often, behave better and have fewer absences.
We wish you a healthy school year - 2011-2012
